The Spice Girls Auction Off Iconic Outfits

June 29, 2012

The Spice Girls

Whilst launching the Viva Forever! musical earlier this week, the feisty five-some (Mel B, Mel C, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham) also announced that they will be auctioning off some of their most iconic outfits from their time in the girl group.

During their years at the top of the charts, the Spice Girls’ clothing choices held centre stage, more often than not stealing the limelight from their songs.  Influencing a whole generation of wardrobes as well as being the subject of a million copy cat styles, each of the girls’ individual clothing choices garnered cult followings. From Mel C’s animal print creations and Buffalo boots, to Sporty Spice’s cropped-top and tracksuit combos, Baby’s cute A-line dresses, Geri’s union jacks and not forgetting, the bra and blazers, PVS and stiletto-style of Posh.

The auction is set to coincide with the launch of the Spice Girl-inspired musical in the West End towards the end of November, with proceeds going to the Save The Children and Children In Need charities.

At the Viva Forever! press conference Victoria told The Mirror, “I’ve got all my costumes still. I can’t wait for Harper to grow a little so she can have some. But the rest I’d like to put up for charity, I think it would be a fantastic thing to do.”
