Pizza Hut is launching a pizza-scented fragrance. No, this isn’t a joke, although it did start as one when Pizza Hut Canada’s Facebook page jokingly posed the question: “Do you love the smell of a box of Pizza Hut pizza being opened? We thought so. If that smell was a perfume, what would it be called?” Much to their surprise, fans were into the idea of pizza perfume and encouraged the pizza chain to go through with it.
The pizza scent question originated as part of a social engagement strategy. After “A few thousand people” responded saying that they’d like to daub themselves with Pizza Hut Perfume, the fast food company obliged, although despite the demanding customers, only one hundred bottles will be produced, to be given as a reward for fans involved in the discussion.
Whilst we’ve never before heard a scent described as “dough with a little bit of seasoning added,” we’re strangely attracted to the idea of the smell of freshly baked bread. Although, pepperoni and cheese, somewhat less so!
