GET THE LOOK: VIVIENNE WESTWOOD SS14

Vivienne Westwood Red Label SS14

When Vivienne Westwood Red Label sat front row at her own show, instead of taking up the traditional backstage designer post, we could tell there was something special on its way. First came a ritualistic performance by the titian haired Lily Cole, who interpreted a passage from Hans Christian Anderson’s ‘The Red Shoes’, perhaps evocative of Westwood’s recent involvement with the English National Ballet. Then came the girls. Whist some designers opt for the hair and makeup to be downplayed and subtle to offset their designs, Westwood is renowned for going to town on the hair and makeup. For her SS14 collection Val Garland was enrolled with the MAC Pro team to transform the models into works of art. White painted faces and eyes and brows both lined black with feathers caused a sensation on the catwalk along with the CLIMATE printed tees and decadent floral dresses of Westwood latest collection.

The hair looks were designed and overseen by Mark Hampton of TONI&GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe, a tousled, mussed up flow of hair usually across to fall down one shoulder and leave one side of the neck exposed. Whilst styled in its most dramatic version for the Vivienne Westwood Red Label Show, the style in its simplest form is very wearable. The up-do is on-trend and and achievable as Mark Hampton shows in this backstage video.
