I love an eye colour that smokes, that’s textured, that stays put, that looks dramatic in a flash. All the ingredients are there with Lancôme’s eye shades that come in a pot called Hypnose Ultra Dazzling Eye Colour (£21.00). These are indeed ultra and they do dazzle.
My favourite shade is called Quartz Taupe. It is violet, it is grey, it is silvery. It’s a beautiful thing.
They come with their own little brush which is a good brush and works exquisitely with the product. You can work it for a gentle colour veil, just a hint of quartzness. Or you can work it so it is intense and full. Either way it will stay on all day and all night.
The texture is quite incredible. It is not like a cream, it is not like a powder. It is in between both and when you touch it in the pot it is springy and juicy like an easily moulded paste.
It also comes in a gorgeous green called Emerald Eternelle and a dark blue Saphir Noir and Diamant Argenté which is an intense silvery grey. They are all exquisite. You can wear them completely on their own or I like to put another base colour underneath, sometimes a contrasting one. For instance a bronze eye crayon goes very nicely with the Quartz Torpe and a grey brown goes nicely with the Diamant Argenté.
The colours are so vivid, so intense and they stay like that for as long as you need them. In fact this eye pot has more staying power than any other that I’ve tried.
