TAYLOR SWIFT MAKES VOGUE COVER DEBUT

October 1, 2014

by Brooke Varney

It’s odd to think that country/pop superstar Taylor Swift is only just now getting her first Vogue cover.  Having been in the business since she was sixteen, the singer shot to stardom in the blink of an eye and has remained one of the top musical acts in the world for years, but not just for her talent.  Her ability to remain humble and down-to-earth along with her unwavering devotion and connection to her fans sets her apart from many other artists out there.  That, and her uncanny tendency to always look flawless and end up on the best dressed list, even when she’s photographed leaving the gym.  Seriously.  It’s pretty unfair.

In the November issue, Swift talks about her upcoming debut pop album, 1989, which is sure to be a major musical departure from her country roots.  “This time around I’ve chosen the brave and bold way of going about things,” she said. “Because with this album I’ve completely changed the sound of everything I’ve done until now. So it’s interesting to not be afraid of that. You know, I don’t want to hurt people’s feelings, I don’t want to betray Nashville, whatever, but essentially it comes down to challenging yourself as an artist.”

She also talks of her dating life, or lack thereof, so don’t expect any headlines about a new romance any time soon.  She explains, “Dating or finding someone is the last thing on my mind, because I can’t picture how it could work with the way my life is.  I don’t know how a guy is supposed to walk next to his girlfriend when there are 20 men with cameras, and he can’t protect his girlfriend because that’s the life she chose. I just don’t see how it could work, so I don’t think about it, and I kind of run from it when it presents itself. ‘Cause I don’t think any guy really… They think that they would want to get to know me, and maybe date me, but I don’t think they want what comes with it.”

Taylor’s stunning November issue of Vogue is available for iPad download on October 3, with the print version on newsstands October 6!
