A few years ago on a beauty press trip I was mocked. I had last night’s delicious tiramisu for breakfast. How could I start the day so badly they jeered over their almond milk oat meal….It became legendary. For me though, it was a great start, coffee and a lot of carbs. Don`t they tell you breakfast is the best time to eat carbs?

This Sunday I had gelato for breakfast followed by a waffle and it put me in a fabulous mood. Amorino Gelato is crazy delicious. I went to their branch in Beverly Hills but they are also in France and the UK. As soon as I arrived I wanted everything. There was sorbet and gelato, yoghurt gelato with plums – which was only 35 calories a scoop. But this is not the place to be thinking calories.
I couldn’t decide on which one to try; salted butter caramel, coconut coffee or custard cream and cherry? And there was chocolate with 51% of cocoa and an ecuadorian chocolate with 71 % of cocoa. And what about chocolate sorbet? Here is the beautiful thing; you can have all of them. They don`t give you scoops, that are large pom-poms; they scoop it with a flat trowel so each scoop is flat like a petal of gelato that becomes part of a rose So what you are eating not only looks gorgeous, it is multi-flavoured/ multi foodgasmic.

After my medium sized cone I tried a gelato macaroon, green tea flavoured. There is something gorgeous about ice cream that is soft and tangy paired with a macaroon that is crisp and fluffy.
The gelatos were all exquisitely flavoursome. But before I left I was told that their waffles were magnificent and they were. The most gorgeously textured waffle ever. Crisp on the outside, and pillow soft on the inside. This was accompanied by Nutella, warm and gooey with fluffy cream.
Even I know that I can’t start every day like this, but I had fun trying. I also spied in there Ice cream cakes to be ordered for bithdays and special occasions. Good thing it is my birthday coming up!
