Some of us ladies here at the Beauty and the Dirt headquarters look back on 2015 to reflect and appreciate some of the special finds throughout the year. Here are our best moments, beauty bits and the things we simply couldn’t live without:
KRISTA
Skincare: Hard to pick one.. I go for fantastic facials with Jenny Harding and she makes her own products, recently she has made a serum with Vitamin C, sea kelp and hyaluronic acid, which I can’t go without. Also love Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Eye Rescue… anything from Murad and Caudalie… I could go on.
Beauty/Makeup: Urban Decay eye pencils; best colours and they stay put. Laura Mercier Lip Parfaits, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatments, Burt’s Bees tinted lip balms. NARS Audacious mascara and Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue.
Haircare: Love the Dove Advanced Hair Series Shampoos and Conditioners, Liz Earle Botanical Hair Shine Hair Oil and Aveda Phomollient hair mousse, their dry shampoo also a winner.
Best Buy: Too many mention… flights on Easy Jet to Nice for total recharge and fun and my many packages at Psycle for spin classes, they are the most fun way to keep fit.
Shoes: Ash boots and Nike flyknits > can’t live without either.
Restaurant/Breakfast place: Lantana Cafe for toasted courgette bread, poached eggs, grilled halloumi and chill jam, yum!
Film: Seen so many good ones this year, stand outs are Trumbo, Sicario, The Man from U.N.C.L.E
Song: Great to have Adele back, let’s go with that album.
Book: Read Still Alice this year and it was very moving and a great bit of holiday trash is Luckiest Girl Alive.
Holiday Destination: Got to be my sanctuary Villefranche, in the prettiest part of the Cote D’Azur.
Crush: I will always be loyal to Jon Hamm, despite his stay in rehab, love Jason Bateman, oh I have a soft spot for John Bishop and obviously Micheal Fassbender..
HANNAH
Skincare: This has to be my Magnitone Exfoliating Brush (full review) which I use almost every night and I have noticed such a big difference it has made to my skin. Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Serum is a morning serum to boost radiance and give a brighter complexion. I have been using this one every day and I adore the citrusy smell, and the way it makes my skin look super alive!
Beauty/Makeup: I could go on forever, but one product I particularly like using at the moment is the BECCA Shimmer Highlight – the colour and shimmer is just perfection on the skin and lasts too.
Haircare: Philip Kingsley Elasticizer (full review) is such a good rescue if my hair needs a little strengthening.
Treat: Charbonnel Hot Chocolate. Hands down. This got us through December, we loved that it is shredded pieces of choccy and it tastes like proper melted chocolate. Super naughty but too good…
Breakfast place: Tonic & Remedy (full review) served the best eggs benedict I’ve had.
Song: Has to be from my favourite band, The 1975 – Love Me
Book: I Let You Go – quite an edgy but clever thriller, with a great twist, couldn’t put it down!
VESI
Beauty/Makeup: No7 Stay Perfect Mascara is smudge proof and doesn’t leave you with panda eyes – no need to scrub off mascara at the end of the day, comes off by rubbing gently with warm water and then going over it with oil based makeup remover to get rid of any small bits that might be left over.
Haircare: Charles Worthington BAFTA Edition Volume & Bounce Express Blow Dry Primer. We managed to get our hands on this limited edition product to try and absolutely loved it! It’s not out until February 2016 but this is one to watch out for.
Best Buy: Love Moschino I Love Scarf Shoulder Bag
Restaurant: Yi-Ban, an authentic Chinese restaurant based in East London – serves delicious dim sum…Mmmm yes!
Bar: Blues Kitchen Shoreditch – they have great nibbles, great music, great cocktails, great fun!
Film: Sicario
Song: Has to be Justin Bieber – Sorry. Super catchy.
Book: Gone Girl
Crush: Christopher Mason – just feast on his instagram. Then you’ll know why. He stars in Selena Gomez’s new video – Hands to Myself
