Dakota Johnson graced the red carpet at the premiere of her new film, How To Be Single in New York last night; looking stunning in a beige tone YSL dress with gold sequinned stars. To complement Dakota’s gown, celebrity makeup artist Pati Dubroff created a “gypsy-inspired, with a touch of glam rock” look…
We love this makeup look, the warm tones used harmonised her skin tone and hair colour – with a flash of metallic on the centre of the lid with a matte caramel tone to give a smokey look to her eyes. Dakota had radiance in her skin, and to finish, the perfect dark nude lip colour.

FACE/SKINCARE:
- To perfect the skin, Dubroff first used a foundation brush to apply NEW Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation in Dune on the center of Dakota’s face.
- Next, she applied VITA LIBERATA Body Blur in Fair, a gorgeous warm luminizing lotion, on the high bones of the face, focusing on the tops of the cheekbones.
- Dubroff swirled a touch of Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Praline onto the apples of the cheeks. She then dusted a light coat of Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder all over Dakota’s face to set and prolong the wear of her makeup.
- Then, she warmed up the cheeks with VITA LIBERATA Self Tan Mineral Bronzer in Sunkissed. Dubroff noted, “I used this as a very sheer healthy idea of warmth focusing on the area the sun would touch and slight contour.”
EYES:
- To achieve a glittery eye look, Dubroff used Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Café Au Lait to create contour on the crease and the under eye area. She shared, “This tone is harmonious with the dress and gives contour to the eyes, but is not a hard or harsh shade.”
- She then applied a swipe of Diorshow Fusion Mono Cream Shadow in Meteore across the center of the lids and topped with Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Midnight Cowboy, which really “gave the eye a pop.”
- To achieve Dakota’s luscious lashes, she added a couple coats of Laura Mercier Extra Lash Sculpting Mascara in Black Onyx.
LIPS:
- Dubroff kept the lips really simple as to not compete with the eyes. She first applied Laura Mercier Infusion De Rose Lip Balm on Dakota’s lips to provide added hydration.
- Then, she used Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Hazelnut Tea to define and fill in the lips.
- For the final touch of glamour, she added Laura Mercier Sheer Lip Colour in Nude Lips on top.
