Alexander McQueen’s creative director, Sarah Burton, yesterday received an OBE from the Prince of Wales, after being named in the Queen’s 2012 Birthday Honour’s List.

Having taken the helm of the designer label after the brand’s namesake, Lee McQueen, took his own life back in 2010, Sarah has since become famed for having created the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding gown and a number of other significant occasion-wear pieces for the Duchess.
The Cheshire-born designer collected her OBE for her services to British fashion at Buckingham Palace. Asked if she would be creating maternity-wear for the Duchess, Burton, who is currently pregnant with twins herself, laughed and answered, “I hope I will be”.
PA reported that Burton and the Prince “talked a little about the dres, and I said congratulations for the Duke and Duchess, I’m over the moon for them.”
Speaking about the Prince himself, Burton said, ” I think he’s got an amazing sense of style and has quite a history with Savile Row and has impeccable taste.”
