Paris Fashion Week starts today, and as it marks the highlight and finale of the fashion calendar, we’re expecting that this season’s collections will be très chic! The next seven days will be full of star-studded front rows and beautiful models, not to mention glamourous designs that we’ll be lusting over for months. And with the Academy Awards coming up this Sunday, it’s almost certain that a few gowns will head straight off the runway and make an appearance on the red carpet — Jennifer Lawrence in a brand-new Dior, perhaps? Here’s a preview of what you’ll want to keep an eye on during Paris Fashion Week AW14:
The Louis Vuitton show is definitely one not to be missed because it will be the first show under the creative direction of Nicholas Ghesquière. Louis Vuitton’s previous creative director was Marc Jacobs, who helmed the iconic label for 16 years. Ghesquière is known for bringing a refreshed style of modernity to Balenciaga, where he was previously creative director, so we’ll have to see what his vision for Vuitton turns out to be on 5th March.

Fashion house Elie Saab is preparing to launch a digital magazine to provide more in-depth content online. The publication, called The Light of Now, is scheduled to go live during the designer’s show. “The monthly e-mag will feature original editorial content at the intersection of contemporary culture and Elie Saab universe,” the label said. The Light of Now will contain nine articles a month from its Paris-based editorial team.
We’re expecting an extravagant show, as usual, from Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel. The designer always has larger-than-life show displays and continuously draws upon interesting inspiration, and this week’s show should be no exception to this pattern! Take a look at what he had to offer at Chanel’s SS14 Couture collection show right here.
High street fashion giant H&M makes its second appearance at Paris Fashion Week with its limited-edition H&M Studio line. The show will be held in the Salon d’honneur at the Grand Palais. With H&M’s last Paris Fashion Week appearance including model Cara Delevingne and drawing celeb attendees like Ashley Olsen, Chloë Grace Moretz and Emma Roberts, we’re anxiously awaiting the star power sure to be present at this season’s show.
Miu Miu‘s show is currently scheduled as one of the week’s last shows next Wednesday. We’re hoping to see our favorite new starlet Lupita Nyong’o sitting front row since she is the face of Miu Miu’s spring campaign, along with Elisabeth Olsen.

Keep your eyes peeled during the Raf Simons for Christian Dior show for dresses that might make a second appearance this Sunday on the likes of actress Jennifer Lawrence, who just signed a multimillion-dollar deal with Dior.
Balenciaga‘s show is sure to be one of the top collections of the week. Under the creative direction of Alexander Wang, who had an incredibly successful collection debut with his own label at New York Fashion Week earlier this month, Balenciaga could possibly take a brighter and bolder direction. Wang is still new to the position at Balenciaga, but regardless, we’re excited to see how it all transpires.
There are plenty of other buzzworthy shows coming up throughout the week, including Jean Paul Gaultier, Saint Laurent, Chloé, Stella McCartney, Maison Martin Margiela, Valentino and Céline. Stay tuned to Beauty and the Dirt for more details and highlights from the shows as Paris Fashion Week gets underway!
