And the nominees for the Oscars 2016 are… which films will emerge in the spotlight after today’s announcement?

The nominations for the 88th Annual Academy Awards were announced this morning, Thursday 14th January, during a conference in Beverly Hills.
The Revenant comes up on top with 12 nominations with Mad Max: Fury Road taking second place with 10 categories. Both of these films are up for Best Picture along with The Big Short, Bridge of Spies, Brooklyn, The Martian, Room and Spotlight.
Eddie Redmayne has a chance of winning two Oscars in a row after his las year’s success in The Theory of Everything – he is up for Best Actor alongside Leonardo DiCaprio. We love Eddie, but we do think Leonardo is deserving of an award from his body of work… Someone give that guy an Oscar already!
The Oscars are taking place this year on Sunday 28th February, and will be hosted by comedian Chris Rock. “I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars,” Rock said. “It’s great to be back.”
