Even if you don’t know her name, you’ll have seen her everywhere. Andreea Diaconu has fronted campaigns for Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Belstaff as well as walking regularly at fashion weeks for the same brands and others including Isabel Marant, and fronting Vogue covers across Europe. Oh, and she has a killer bob. In 2014 she went from Lily Aldridge-esque waves to a sometimes sleek, sometimes unruly shorter style, and we can’t get enough of it. If you’re due for a hair change this SS14 season, then this might just be the way to go.
Luckily for us, Nicola Bond, Creative Stylist/Senior Technician at Trevor Sorbie, was on hand with some top tips for creating that perfect mid-length bob this season.
‘The mid-length bob is seeing a revival of popularity this season, and is the perfect style for those who are trying either to grow out their hair, or opt for a longer style. It also is a subtle change for those who want to go for the chop but aren’t ready for a look that’s too dramatic. When asking your hairdresser to create this style, make sure it involves lots of layers to help encourage natural movement through the ends of the hair. Ideally, the perfect hair type for this style is fine or medium-thickness hair. It is not great for naturally poker straight hair, or very thick hair which can create a triangular effect. If there is not a natural wave in your hair, try using a curling wand to create easy, long-lasting movement. The key is to focus on the ends of the hair.’
Product wise, Nicola;s favourite product for recreating this relaxed version of the bob is Trevor Sorbie Styling Salt Texture Spray (£5.70). Use on tonged curls for a beautifully tousled finish with an added dose of volume.
If you’d prefer to up the gloss factor then opt for a shine spray like Fudge Head Shine (£10.16).
Nicola’s hero product for recreating this relaxed style is Trevor Sorbie Styling Salt Texture Spray (£5.70). This can be used on tonged curls or onto damp hair to create a beautiful, tousled finish. “Pippa has opted for the safe bob length, but for a dramatic new look, Nicola suggests a short sexy crop which would look great on Pippa. This would embrace her hair’s natural movement and allow her to style it with varied products for an edgier look.”
