If you read our piece on Aspects Beauty’s #MyFragranceStory showcase, you learned about the Little Book of Fragrance the company created to better inform us about the perfume world. We featured some of our favourite scents from the event, and now we’ve got a few more to add to the list.
Gri Gri
While most fragrances draw on some sort of outdoors-y aroma, Gri Gri has its own unique inspiration different from the rest. Each scent from the brand represents the ancient art of tattooing, with various cultures being shown throughout the entire collection. The company believes that both tattoos and perfumes are similar in that they’re meant to be messages on the skin to be enjoyed by yourself or shared with others. The concept was created by Anais Biguine, a perfume innovator that has created other fragrances like Les Cocottes de Paris. With this newest Gri Gri range, Anais debuts her daring abilities by using rare ingredients like genmaicha, yuzu and tussock grass. Of course, each represents a tattoo technique, like the Moko Maori referencing the Maori island tribe’s sacred patterns. The scent is exotic and bottles up the feeling of the ocean and marine life. The newest collection can be found online at places like Bloom Perfume for £90.
Moschino
Since becoming established, Moschino has been known as a global luxury brand that stands in a category of its own. The brand prides itself on going against the norm, and speaking a language “against the obvious.” The House of Moschino under the creative direction of Jeremy Scott is known to produce fashion that is fun and completely outside of the box. Scott often uses juxtaposition with his products, comparing mundane and common household items with the richness of a fragrance. He did so with his last perfume, Toy Teddy Bear Eau de Toilette, which came in a bottle that was literally a stuffed teddy bear wearing a shirt that said “This is not a Moschino Toy.” Now he’s back with a similar theme, with Fresh Couture eau de toilette. It does just that with its basis: Windex glass cleaning product. By taking the signature look and shape of the bottle but filling it with a luxury aroma, Moschino celebrates irony. The newest instalment adds a feminine touch, called Pink Couture. But it doesn’t smell anything like window cleaner. The aura is fresh and floral, with ingredients like pink grapefruit, lily, cassis, pomegranate and wild rose. You can buy Moschino Pink Couture for £66 at stores like Selfridges or shop online here.
Travalo
The concept behind Travalo is exactly like its name: fragrance for travel. This is the only brand on our list that isn’t an actual fragrance. Travalo creates fragrance atomisers that allow you to refill directly from your favorite perfume bottle without spilling or exposing the aroma to the air. The refill technology is patented and is called Genie-S, which prevents from degradation. The Travalo size is aircraft approved, and ensures that every spritz is the same as the original with its HD spray head. It’s also convenient for travel because the products are completely glass-free, so you don’t have to worry about breaking anything when you’re rushing from place to place. The latest technology is called U-change, and allows you to alternate the cases by detaching the inner-bottle and reattaching it to a new Travalo. With the Milano, the casing is a durable leatherette with polished metal accents. It’s weighted and balanced for travel, and is designed to last. You can buy one of the eight colors of the Travalo Milano for £27 from stores like Debenhams online here.
