After nearly two weeks of galas and red carpet appearances, the 2016 Cannes Film Festival has come to an end with the presentation of this year’s awards, finished with the prestigious Palme d’Or prize. We kept a close eye on all of the glamorous red carpet action and also has a sneak peek at some beauty secrets from the A-list attendees, but it’s the time to now honour the winner of the event:
British director Ken Loach won the Palme d’Or on Sunday night, making him one of only nine filmmakers to have been awarded the prize twice in the festival’s 69-years of running.
The 79-year-old director’s drama I, Daniel Blake is the story of a middle-aged widow carpenter from Newcastle who is fighting to hold on to his welfare benefits when he spots a woman in a similar predicament at the welfare office. He tries to help her and her two kids get set up, leading into a surrogate family…
