Barbie’s getting a designer spin! Mattel has announced plans to launch a Karl Lagerfeld Barbie doll later this year as part of their Collector Series, and the 55th anniversary of the iconic toy. The doll will be dressed in the famous designer’s most iconic outfit: black skinny jeans, black jacket, high collared white shirt, sunglasses and black boots. But don’t expect the designer to be immortalized as a Ken doll: the Lagerfeld doll will have Barbie’s classically slim silhouette, topped off with the designer’s shocking white ponytail.
‘It’s not everyday that Barbie dresses like the world’s most famous fashion designer,’ said Kim Culmone, global vice president of Barbie product design. More details about the doll will be released closer to the its launch this fall. We can’t wait to see Barbie all dolled up in her Lagerfeld finest!
