When it comes to hair, I consider myself quite lucky. I’ve always had low-maintenance, fast-growing, naturally wavy hair that doesn’t require styling on a daily basis. However, when I was younger I used to blow dry it every single day. I don’t miss the damage inflicted upon my hair, and I must admit that nowadays I prefer myself with wavy hair as opposed to straight, but I do really miss the volume that blow drying gave me. I refuse to tease my hair (it gets tangled enough without it), and leave-in styling product has never really been my thing. It seems as though I’ve finally found a solution to my flat-hair dilemma, in the form of Satinique’s Extra Volume Shampoo and Conditioner.
The shampoo claims to “elevate fine, limp hair with gravity-defying volume. Patented Enerjuve™ Complex helps repair while an exclusive blend of lightweight, lifting polymers infuse hair with body,” and boost volume by 37%. The first time using it, my initial impression was that the shampoo smelled wonderful, as did the conditioner. After my shower that night, I went to bed (hair still wet), and woke up with soft, shiny hair, with defined waves that miraculously also had volume. My hair for the most part is not picky when it comes to shampoo, but the added volume was a nice rarity for me, as was a conditioner that effectively detangles and smooths, but not so much that it leaves my hair in a weird limbo between wavy and straight. After using it for about a month, I’ve received loads of compliments from others, even from my mother who I only get to see these days via FaceTime. I think it’s safe to say that if you can see the results from a product through a front-facing iPhone camera, chances are it’s the real deal.
Satinique’s Extra Volume Shampoo is available here for £9.10, and the Extra Volume Conditioner here for £9.65.
