Salon Benjamin in LA now has a beauty shop, but it’s not just any beauty shop, it’s one I don’t seem to be able to leave.
It started off with an innocent $10 purchase of Rose Vanilla Tinted Lip Blush by Fig+Yarrow. I loved its scent and the fact it was all natural ingredients. As it turns out almost everything in the store is organic and natural.
They stock an impressive range of RMS make-up, an organic range created by make-up artist Rose-Marie Swift. Each of her products have pure organic ingredients and come in delicious little pots. There is lovely stuff for lips and cheeks. And there’s even kind to hands nail polishes.
I picked up a lovely smoky eye shadow cream in a colour called Seduce which shimmers with a slight golden sparkle but is a brownie grey. The colour has depth and staying power.
You see people coming out with beautiful hair just not wanting to leave, there’s something so seductive about this tiny but exquisite store.
The next time I was there I discovered the Earth Tu Face range. It all smelt so delicious and a quick test of the eye serum seemed to radically de-puff my eyes. The range was created by two herbalists in California who wanted to focus on creating plant based skin care free of all synthetic compounds.
The whole shop smells divine, perhaps because so many people had been spraying themselves with Caudalîe’s unisex scent Thé Des Vignes. It is meant to smell of night-time in the vineyards and it is rather intoxicating.
Everything about Caudalîe has its heart in the vineyards of Bordeaux where it has been discovered that the vine and the grape possess exceptional powers to help the skin. Everything about the product is natural and Fair Traded and there’s lots of plant power and organic grape water.
I haven’t tried their lip and eye serum or their elixirs but they all look rather beautiful. The scent combines white musk, neroli and ginger, with orange blossom and jasmine. It smells fresh and sensual, incredibly light and yet intense all at the same time.
There are many other wonderful ranges stocked in the shop at Salon Benjamin. If you go to have your hair done in the salon you notice there is an exquisite collection of beautiful tea cups sourced from all over the world. He seems to have applied the same principle when sourcing the each and every brand for the shop; all are exquisite, and all are something you want to have a piece of.
