Have you heard of ‘tech neck’? Apparently it is causing concern amongst many dermatologists and since I heard the term I have become very aware of how my constant use of my phone and laptop are helping to cause the skin on my neck to sag and wrinkles to increase. The more I thought about it the more it made sense, so many of us spend all day looking down at our computers then spend half the evening looking down to check our social media and it’s having a detrimental effect. They reckon this behaviour can increase lines and wrinkles by up to 50%. I don’t know how accurate this is but even half that is a bit shocking.
So when I was asked to try out the new Beauty Lab Tripeptide Collagen Firming Neck Cream it was perfect timing and I resolved to thoroughly put it through it’s paces over a month to really see how effective it was.
This cream helps to plump up sagging and withered skin with a combination of Vitamins A, B, C, E, sea algae, hyaluron and Tripeptide, which is a protein bond that send signals to your cells. When collagen breaks down it forms specific peptides that signal your skin that it needs to make new collagen so the idea is that it tricks your skin into producing more.
I have now used the skincare cream every day for nearly a month. Unlike a lot of skin creams it’s very light to use – surprisingly light and more in the form of a mousse than a cream. It spreads really well over the neck area with just a couple of pea-sized applications and is very quickly absorbed, so you can put on clothes instantly without it marking. It also smells heavenly which I wasn’t expecting – fresh and fruity. I have been guilty of overlooking this part of my body for much too long so it was actually really beneficial to concentrate on my neck and I do think it has benefited from a daily massage too. The effect, I must say, is good. Not dramatic but definitely an improvement and some of the deep ‘tech neck’ lines that were forming are far less apparent. My skin is smoother too with tiny lines not so much of a problem. It will certainly make sure that I continue to take much more care of my neck in future!
