With hairbrushes, I tend to find one and stick with it. My hair is long and fine but there’s a lot of it. I am guilty of blowdrying each time I wash (every other day) and following with a curling tong session. This little routine may give me the waves and movement I want, but I can tell that it’s more than taking its toll on my hair. The ends become split much more easily, and the last couple of inches are now more whispy than lustrous, even if they do fall to near waist length.
So I have decided to impose upon myself a little touch of hair rehab. The first step? Swapping a styling night for a drying naturally night. It’s a little bit of a mission as my hair takes an age to dry, but now the evenings are getting warmer, as long as it’s only a little damp before I go to sleep, it will dry just a little as I sleep. And my saviour in my quest for healthier hair? The Wet Brush (£11.99).

I didn’t think much of The Wet Brush when it arrived for me to try. There have been heaps of detangling brushes that have made their way on and off of my dressing table. Most have been fairly ineffective, far from aesthetically pleasing, and hollow, plastic and flimsy. This one looked rather lovely, and felt good to hold. Two ticks so far!
My only niggle is that it came to me in a purple shade. Now I’m a little picky with my hairbrushes. I like them all to be black. I think maybe it makes me feel like a bit of a professional? Plus then they all match. So the one above would be ideal. The Wet Brush is an American product but you can get them here from the wonderful Cult Beauty.
Then I tried it on my mop of wet hair, and it was a revelation. It brushed through it easily, detangling and smoothing as it went. My dubious mindset gradually faded away and now I am a total convert. Even on dry hair I can tell the difference, and it might be my imagination, or positive mental attitude taking a hold, but I swear my hair looks shinier!
Brushing regularly with this is sure to improve hair’s condition in the long run too. Less breakage over time will lead to hair growing longer and looking thicker. And who doesn’t want that?! I would urge you to give this one a try. It’s actually earned itself that hard-to-get ‘must-have’ status for me. And that’s a big deal.
