London’s legendary Mayfair Hotel Claridge’s always makes a stunning display this time of year with an extravagant Christmas tree to celebrate the holidays. This year is a bit of a special landmark for the Hotel, as it will be the first time that Claridge’s will have a British designed tree.. Hurrah!
Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer, and the hotel’s long-time friend, Christopher Bailey will be the brains behind the operation, designing an innovative and modern tree, contrasting to the art deco-esque feel to the hotel. He has explored the concept of light and shadow, and using inspiration from the luxury brand’s weather-protecting heritage with the use of 100 umbrellas for the tremendous installation.
Each umbrella will be finished in bespoke gold and silver metallic fabric and will reflect and pick up light movement from the Hotel’s surrounding guests.. it will be a twinkling showstopper.
This festive landmark is one to see; with another year of magnificence from Claridge’s annual tradition.
Christopher Bailey said “Christmas is one of my favourite times of year so I was delighted to be asked to design the Claridge’s Christmas Tree – the iconic hotel celebrating a joyful time. We wanted the tree to reflect the playfulness of the season with a little bit of the English weather thrown in. We also love the idea that the tree comes to life as guests pass by bringing a wonderful touch of festive magic to their stay.”
The tree is unveiled on Monday 16th November… Don’t miss it.
