Cate Blanchett was totally transformed for the latest issue of W Magazine in a rather bizarre shoot by Tim Walker. In this case; bizarre is good… very good.

The Oscar-wining actress fronts the magazine for their Dec/Jan issue; with an avant-garde makeover, wearing minimal makeup, in all-black and with slicked back hair wearing a number of head pieces and garments.
Tim Walker is known for his theatrical, carefully staged photography with intricate set designs with strong narratives in his work.

Cate obviously looks gorgeous, like usual, but is certainly out of this world for this eery shoot.
In the interview with W Magazine; Blanchett insists she isn’t perfect, and also talks about the importance of fashion in films. “I love working with the costume designers on movies. You can visually represent the character through a dress or a bag or shoes. In ‘Blue Jasmine,’ clothes illustrated my character’s demise,” she said. “If I pair a Birkin bag with a knockoff sweater from Wal-Mart that looks like Chanel, I can subtly reveal the character, and I don’t have to play that emotion.“

Cate Blanchett expresses her love of one piece in Carol that played a huge role; “That coat was the one to tell Carol’s story. It was perfect.“
