Today, Karl Lagerfeld staged his Chanel Fall 2016 Haute Couture collection today at the Grand Palais in Paris. Just like any Chanel ‘do – the show featured an elaborate set design, exquisite garments and of course, mesmerising models to showcase them.
Chanel transformed the venue into a couture atelier, bringing the guests backstage to where the magic happens! Complete with model forms, rolls of fabric, cutting tables – even seamstresses and pattern cutters – the whole lot.
The set touched upon the values on which Chanel was founded, emphasising the level of work that goes into creating each and every piece of clothing…
Willow Smith, Jessica Chastain and Naomi Campbell were just a few of the famous faces in the crowd, to witness the couture collection come to life.
Models including Edie Campbell hit the runway and the show opened with a reworking of the classic bouclé suit. Lagerfeld’s collection featured boater necklines, pearl embellishments and wide cut garments.
Beauty
Hair genius Sam McKnight executed the hair for the show, aptly captioning his photos ‘the height of fashion’ referring to the sheer tallness of the up-do’s and we love it. Here are our top products to use if you’re looking to recreate those tight curls yourself.
The makeup featured chiseled, rosy cheekbones, pink lips and bold strip lashes cut into triangular points at the centre of the eyes. Tom Pecheux was the makeup artist behind the edgy Chanel beauty look for the show.
