With Gabrielle Chanel having spent much time in Scotland during the 1920s with her lover the Duke of Westminster, and the fashion house incorporating Scottish cashmere into its collections season after season, it seemed particularly apt that this year’s Chanel Metiers d’Art collection, ‘Paris-Edimbourg’ showed at Linlithgow Palace on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
A true highland fling, models including Stella Tennant, Edie Campbell and Cara Delevingne stormed the runway in bejewelled knit wear, tartan and cashmere, with diamond, striped and houndstooth-patterned tights keeping the chill at bay and flat tough-luxe boots (perfect for striding the Scottish highlands).
