It was a couple of days before Christmas that I noticed the appearance of horrendous roots that suddenly sprouted overnight the way they always do. There was no time for hair colouring, salon or otherwise. I had non-stop work and present buying then wrapping to do and then I had to get out of town.
I suddenly remembered Charles Worthington Instant Root Concealer (£9.99). I had run into him at an event and he decided light blond was the colour for me. It comes from his super successful Salon At Home range and I am told that one Root Concealer is sold every minute. Now I can see why.
It is an instant angst removal, an instant fixer. It sprays on quite precisely and it quickly dries so you don’t need to wear a hat to go to a party.
I have used so-called instant root concealers before with various results, mostly it has been like painting on wax that then dries into a form of sticky clay. You don’t have root colour but you still can’t leave the house. I tried other things that are more painstaking, and just so disappointing when what you really need is a quick fix.
Instant root concealer is just that; it is instant and it conceals. It is also more. It is glamorous, it makes hair lustrous, there is no weird texture, it gives a seamless colour blend with a natural finish.
You hold the can about 20 cm away from the hair and lightly build up the colour over the desired area. No wonder one is sold every minute. The minute you have used one, you want to make sure you have one for every unhappy root minute of your life. The best £9.99 anyone could ever spend.
