This year, the Claridge’s Christmas tree is a little bit different, to say the least.
First of all, it’s upside down but the inverted tree has been inspired by Lagerfeld’s childhood memories of Christmas, who says that “Christmas trees are the strongest ‘souvenir’ of my happy childhood.”

The centrepiece is a sixteen-foot-high tree with silver gilded roots, topped with a multi-faceted mirrored star which reflects festive light across the hotel lobby.
Silver is the theme here and the tree has been decorated with silver lamett, silver feathers and snowflakes made especially by a craftsman in Germany, with tree candles giving a warm and inviting glow. Underneath, you can see an Icelandic sheepskin rug used to reflect a recent snowfall. It looks so cosy, all we want to do is roll around on it.
