Beauty and the Dirt was launched in 2000 by Krista Madden, it wasthe first female independent site in the UK, focusing on content built on firsthand experience of beauty, health, fitness, movies and lifestyle including all the best places to go and be seen. The Sunday Times called BATD “The Compendium of London Cool” while Tatler magazine said BATD was “…more addictive than Facebook.”
