This lovely botanical skincare is made from ingredients sourced in Africa and is owned by the family who created it, so the products are filled with a sense of history and love. Daughter of the Soil is a skincare company that aims to nourish, moisturise, and protect all types of skin. The brand was born in the 1950’s when Maria Magembe’s great grandmother used the Ugandan soil and plants to make skin care products that she shared with the women around her. When Maria founded Daughter of the Soil, she had hopes of bringing those same products to women all around the world, using the plants and ingredients that were available locally in Africa.
The Ugandan Soil is incredibly fertile which allows it to grow a wide variety of plants that made it the perfect starting place for the natural skincare brand. Daughter of the Soil is not only is bringing their family’s heritage to us they are being responsible and thoughtful and supporting the local communities by training Ugandan women to be farmers and leaders for their business. This allows the women to have guaranteed incomes that can support them as they produce the various products. The two founders, Maria and Hellen Lawuo-Meena have huge visions for the brand to become a household name, we love their ethos and the packaging is lovely too, we wish them lots of luck to expand the collection and keep applying the Shea Body Butter, because it’s so good!
