When it comes to Haute Couture, it goes without saying that the clothes – albeit breathtaking – tend to also be somewhat unwearable with buyers typically looking to re-work pieces into items that more easily fit into their designer-led wardrobes, high-society lives or red-carpet attire. It’s not a dissimilar story on the Haute Couture beauty side either. At least not if today’s Christian Dior creations are anything to go by.
Pat McGrath, working her typical make up magic, added a full-on smattering of sparkle to models lips, adorning bright, strong lipstick looks with individually placed Swarovski crystals. The bejewelled mouth was set against an otherwise pared-back face, with skin taking on the velveteen finishes we saw at the Spring Summer Ready-To-Wear shows and void of blush. To balance the prominent mouth, a strong feline black kohl flick was drawn over the upper lash line which was left void of mascara, but subtly enhanced with a curl.
