Dolce and Gabbana – The Show Must Go On

June 24, 2013

Italian fashion designers Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce continue to maintain their innocence regarding the Italian tax evasion of this past Wednesday while presenting next summer’s mens collection over the weekend. Rather than using models for the runway show, D&G took a different, more realistic approach. Real Sicilian men – not models – confidently walked the catwalk in Grecian inspired prints. The clothing represented some of the ancient temples in Dolce’s native Sicily, subtly referenced coins from Catania, Syracuse, Taormina and Messina, as well as alluded to the heroic Greek gods Zeus and Apollo.

However, the real hero, and most confident catwalker of them all was an apparently German streaker who crashed the D&G finale. As he jumped on stage originally bundled up, his motives were unclear at first. It wasn’t long until his intentions were revealed – along with the rest of him.

Although it may seem that Dolce and Gabbana are in the midst of a bad luck streak – for lack of a better term – the designers’ sentences have been suspended. The Italian court is entitled to a 140 day summer break, so the appeal is unlikely to be registered again until late December, which hopefully allows the duo enough time to create another fabulous collection.
