October is breast cancer awareness month so why not donate your old bra at one of the Royce Lingerie bra bank to raise money for breast cancer research?
How does it work?
Royce Lingerie’s are working with Against Breast Cancer (ABC) to help raise up to £20,000 a year for research, so come down to one of their stores and bring your old bra where you can pop them into their bra banks. Royce are also donating £1 to ABC for every one of its new English Rose bras sold during October.
So, how do the bras help?
The recycled bras are shipped to Africa where traders support their families by selling textiles locally at village markets. The second-hand bras are very popular among the women in African villages as they’re unable to afford a new one, which helps sustain many families and keeping them out of poverty as well as giving job’s to people in the UK’s recycling industry.
Bernadette Jones, chief executive of ABS explains: “Our bra banks in stores across the country help us raise awareness among thousands of people, all year round. Royce promoting our charity heavily during Breast Cancer Awareness Month and encouraging its retailers to stock our bra banks helps us achieve maximum exposure. Every pound we raise is vital in enabling us to continue our work to find a vaccine against breast cancer, and to look at ways to increase the survival of women and men who have the disease.”
