Emma Watson announced this week that she is set to play Belle in Disney’s upcoming live action production of Beauty and the Beast. What a bombshell. Well, needless to say we approve. The film will be directed by Bill Condon who directed The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Part 2.
On her Facebook page Emma wrote ‘I’m finally able to tell you … that I will be playing Belle in Disney’s new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I’ll get to dance to ‘Be Our Guest’ and sing ‘Something There.’ My six year old self is on the ceiling — heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can’t wait for you to see it.’
2010’s Alice in Wonderland and this year’s Cinderella are the first in a line of Disney films to be officially resurrected for the big screen, and The Jungle Book is scheduled for 2016 under the direction of Jon Favreau. To say we’re excited is an understatement.
