IN CINEMAS: The Danish Girl

The Danish Girl is out in cinemas today.
Eddie Redmayne, Alicia Vikander and Amber Heard all star in the film adaptation of author David Ebershoff’s novel about landscape painter Einar Wegener who becomes Lili Elbe – and was one of the first people ever to receive gender reassignment surgery. This story takes place during the early 1930′s in Copenhagen – an era when society branded such aspirations as a mental disorder.
