SAUSAGE WEEK BEGINS

British Sausage Week 2013 kicks off on Friday 4th November, and this time round the event is going on a journey with celebrity chef and restaurateur Simon Rimmer on the Discovering Britain’s Greatest Sausages campaign.
Did you know that there are over 470 varieties of sausage in Britain? Us neither. And if you don’t know your Chipolata from your Cumberland then you’d better involve yourself with British Sausage Week for a little bit of sausage education. As part of the event butchers, supermarkets, school cooks and chefs from all the way across the country have entered their finest sausages into the competition and Simon will be selecting winners from each region to receive the coveted Banger Award.
The tasty week is organised by The British Sausage Appreciation Society and celebrates the taste, quality and diversity of the British sausage through a number of events. According to some recent statistics it seems that the popularity of the beloved Brit banger has travelled as far as the Far East, with Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and the Philippines all big fans. Luckily for us, we have a whole week dedicated to this Brit delicacy, so make the most of it!
