Once the home of Diana, Princess of Wales, Kensington Palace is now home to the exhibition of her exquisite dresses – along with the displays of those worn by HM Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret.
The 4th July launch of the new exhibition, Fashion Rules, was attended by many a beautifully dressed celeb, and although none of their outfits were quite as impeccably rare as the ones on display – the modernized elegance was in attendance along with the stars.
The well-dressed bunch took to the grounds of Kensington Palace to sip bubbly while admiring the photography and film footage of the nostalgic chronology of royal fashion. Dating back to the 1950s and working forward through the 90s, the Estee Lauder-sponsored exhibit perfectly captures the evolution of silhouettes.
Now over a decade past the new millenium, fashion is still on the up – and these stars are rising with the times.
Naomie Harris opted for a monochromatic look for the Fashion Rules event. The daintiness of the black chiffon was offset by the dramatic leather corset belt, which gave the otherwise loose dress a hip-hugging silhouette. Brilliantly paired with Jimmy Choo black lace heels – Naomie looked fierce, fashionable, and feminine all at once.
Minnie Driver looked summer-fresh in her sorbet-hued organza Missoni maxi-dress. The subtle sequin embroidery lit up the gardens as well as the eyes of the paparazzi.
Tali Lennox sported a wide leg emerald Alice by Temperley jumpsuit, paired this waist-niched onesie with statement heels and tipped black hat. Whoever thinks red and green is only an acceptable color combination for lights around the Christmas tree should look to Tali for a second-thought.
Jessica Lowndes looked sexy-chic in the subtle cut out black mini dress. She opted for the ever-classic LBD, flashing a sliver of flesh, and paired it with a red chain purse for a pop of color that perfectly matched her rouged lips.
The star whose name matches her hair cut turned heads when she arrived with Mr. Henry Holland – wearing, Henry Holland, natch! Supporting her BFF designer, Pixie wore a leather House of Holland skirt and a printed button up blouse. She topped – or rather bottomed – off the look with silver Mary Janes that emphasized the sparkly stars appliqued onto the skirt from the Resort 2014 collection.
