Attention! Pleats are in! We’ve been seeing this trend everywhere, whether it’s a skirt, trousers, a dress or a top. In Spring 2016, micro pleats hit the runways in collections from some major designers – Stella McCartney, Giles, Sonia Rykiel and J. Mendel included this detailing in their Spring 2016 ready-to-wear collections. If Stella loves it, we love it.
This isn’t the first time people have gone crazy for pleats. In 1993, Japanese designer Issey Miyake launched his first collection for Pleats Please! Miyake cuts, sews and then pleats polyester fabric to make women’s garments. Over 20 years later, Miyake is still making micro pleated garments and it looks like people are starting to follow suit. The best part of this trend: no ironing required!
We’ve made sure you don’t miss out on this fabulous fad. Here’s where to go if you want in on this effortlessly elegant trend:
1. Dresses
2. Bottoms
3. Tops
