From October 30-November 2, LA natives will be the envy of Sanrio enthusiasts around the world. The first ever Hello Kitty Con will be held at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in Little Tokyo (of course), celebrating all things kawaii. Celebrating Hello Kitty’s 40th anniversary, the convention will allow guests to participate in traditional Japanese crafts, and carve their very own pumpkin from the Hello Kitty pumpkin patch. Aficionados will be able to peek inside the life size Hello Kitty House, view a fashion installation featuring 13 designers from around the world, visit a real tattoo shop, participate in an interactive area, and observe a vintage section of rare Hello Kitty products, among countless other activities. You may even be able to meet Hello Kitty herself. Senior director of brand management and marketing for Sanrio Dave Marchi says, “It’s a gift to fans as well because conventions are meant to be a celebration of community and a celebration of being a fan.” Some dates are already sold out, so get your tickets here!
