Girls, step away from the home dip-dye kit because ombré is officially over.
There’s a new hair colouring technique for SS13 and whilst it manages to maintain all of the laid-back Kooples-ad insouciance of the ombré, it does so without the harsh bi-tonal colour ways or damaging bleached out ends.
Gary Baker, art director at Jamie Stevens Hair, uses his signature colouring technique – a skilful mix of balayage and freehand painting – to create the flashlights by carefully placing colour, in a halo of highlighted tones, through the under layers of hair around the front of the face. Creating the same luminosity and feature-enhancing brightness that you get with a camera flash, the subtle enhancements offer a seamless sun-lightened colour which extends through the lengths to give a has-she-hasn’t-she hair colour update with no demarcation lines and minimal upkeep.
