FRIDAY FIVE: FESTIVAL HAIR ESSENTIALS

May 29, 2015

By Hannah Powling

This summer is kicking off some lovely festival hair trends with splashes of colour, pretty up-do’s, braids, waves and hair accessories.

So be prepared to have fun with your hair this summer, we have five must have things to create perfect festival hair.

1. Dry Shampoo

Everyone loves a bit of dry shampoo. It keeps your hair looking alive for those few extra days without the use of water, so this inevitably comes up first on this list as its a definite festival necessity..how else would you last all weekend long with fab looking hair?

French and fishtail braids were all over the place at Coachella and dry shampoo is great product to give you the texture you need to hold those plaits in place.

Batiste Dry Shampoo is my absolute favourite. It just works! It mattifies the hair, adding volume, it comes in different shades for all hair colours, and plenty of scents for you to choose from. Also an added bonus – it comes in travel size to pack in your rucksack.

2. Hair Chalk

If you always wanted to have a play with some colour but never had the confidence to experiment with semi-permanent dyes – this is the perfect product to have colourful hair, and be able to just wash it out! You can go for all over colour, or a more ombre effect on the ends of your hair. Celebs including Hilary Duff, Julianne Hugh, Kylie Jenner, Jourdan Dunn & Jessie J have all opted to add a dash of colour to their locks.

3. Salt Spray

Why? This festival season trends tousled, beachy waves, so forget the straighteners, its all about the texture.

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray will let you easily create ultra natural, loose waves, by simply spritzing through damp hair and letting it dry naturally.

4. Accessories

Hair accessories are just fun, and no other time of the year can you get away with having loads of pretty flowers entwined into your hair than festival/summer time. I love it. From the boho bandanas to hair rings and studs, get imaginative with your hair jewellery!

So as mentioned before, big, messy braids are a big factor in our Festival hair trends, but not all of us have thick, long hair to get this look! I dont have 10 years to grow some hair in time, so why not just get some instantly?
