Giambattista Valli has announced that it will be launching a brand new label at Milan’s next Fashion Week in September 2014. Giambattista Valli normally showcases brand new designs at Paris Fashion Week, so does the decision to offer up the first collection of this new line in Italy betray a stark difference between the two Valli branches?
The new line will be called Giamba, the nickname of Giambattista Valli himself, and feature alongside the designer’s original line.
Valli has commented on his latest venture, saying that Giamba will form ‘another side of the same coin’. Valli said conspiratorially ‘There is also an underground and sexy side in me and in my designs that you will see in the Giamba line. I’ve been thinking about it for a while and waited for the right time, and now it’s matured. I am really very happy. I feel the need to dress women in general, and Giamba is a little more intimate’.
We’ll be keeping our eyes trained on the Milanese runways in September for the first glimpse of this new, more playful side of Giambattista Valli.
