Gisele Bündchen stars in the latest campaign for Chanel No. 5.
What do you get when you combine one of the world’s most famous supermodel, an Oscar-winning director, and the most famous fragrance in the world? The answer is an exquisite short film filled with drama, glitz and glamour.
Gisele Bündchen makes her small screen debut in the newest campaign for Chanel No. 5, in a 3-minute short film directed by Baz Luhrmann. The One That I Want features the supermodel catching some waves on her glossy black and white Chanel surfboard clad in a matching wetsuit (of course), before she receives a letter from her admirer. She expects the worst and doesn’t read the letter right away, leading to a dramatic ending that is unmistakably Baz Luhrmann. Lo-Fang’s jazzy rendition of Grease’s “You’re That I Want” plays throughout, enhancing the hypnotizing, Great Gatsby-esque vibe.

On October 13 a screening was held in Manhattan to celebrate the release of the campaign, attended by Bündchen, Luhrmann, Karl Lagerfeld, and Anna Wintour who got cozy just before the short film’s debut. Other celebs who showed their support for the brand’s newest campaign included Lily Allen, as well as supermodels Gigi Hadid and Lily Aldridge who all of course wore Chanel. Bündchen was radiant in a gorgeous, sparkly mini dress with matching jewelry, as she spoke to the press about her initial shock over landing the lucrative campaign. “I feel so honored,” she said. “It’s the most iconic fragrance ever and with the women who came before me.…I was actually asking [my agent], ‘Are you sure they are calling for me?’” Gisele joins famous faces Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, and Marilyn Monroe who have all been featured in the brand’s fragrance campaigns. Not that we’re surprised.
