We can’t imagine after 25 years in the industry that Kate Moss has many more fashion-firsts to acquire. As a veteran supermodel it’s pretty much been there, done that, got the designer t-shirt, Vogue cover and fashion book. But how wrong we were, as Spring Summer 2013 sees the British model nab a spot in Givenchy’s advertising campaign for the very first time.
The coup comes as Ricardo Tisci chose to cast close friends rather than models for the campaign explaining, “It’s about family. Something that is difficult to find in today’s world. It’s about real people, only taking the best of their personalities, with no effort.”
Alongside Kate, the campaign features artists, Jared Buckhiester, Marina Abramovic, model Mariacarla Boscono and her baby, plus the bullfighter Jose Maria Manzanares.
As well as an au naturale, pared-back Kate, we’re loving the current vogue for using real (ish) people in high fashion campaigns. Bravo Givenchy.
