You can always rely on Givenchy to come up with cosmetics that are things of beauty, in more than one sense of the word. They look gorgeous. Both once applied, and in their cases. Their latest SS14 is no exception. Givenchy tell us that it is the antidote to dull weather and city stress, and we’d be inclined to agree.
The aim of the collection is to provide an amber glow and sun-kissed flush in a matter of moments. First up there’s the Poudre Terre Exotique in Douce Croisiere (£39.50), a large moulded disc of bronzing powder that is sheer and dewy on application. The effect is natural and exotic once applied to all the contours of the face that the sun itself would beam down upon. It’s worth a purchase, just for the mirror. It’s large, clear and makes this one a travelling staple.
Follow with a sweep of Givenchy’s cream eye colour Ombre Couture in Corail Tentation (£18.00). The colour is desert like and will warm eyes, whether it’s applied to the whole eyelid or sparingly as a liner.

The lipsticks are always a favourite amongst the Givenchy beauty collections. Mainly for their leather-like cases that reel in envious glances from onlookers when whipped out for a quick application. Two red shades make up part of the Croisuere Collection, Le Rouge in Fruit Defendu and Acajou Precieux (£25.00) .
And everyone loves Phenomen’eyes Waterproof (£23.00), with the quirky spherical brush that coats every lash. Well this time it’s back, and it’s turquoise. It’s perhaps not a colour that we’d apply without a care, but try applied only to the lower lashes, whilst the top lashes are coated in lashings of black, might give you a striking holiday look that you wear again and again.
The whole collection is rather wonderful, and evocative of a bronzed Veruschka during the 70s. And who doesn’t want to look like that?
