GOLDEN GLOBE HAIR SECRETS 2016

January 12, 2016

By Hannah Powling

Okay, we’ve raved about the makeup oozing off the red carpet at the Golden Globes 2016 – now it’s the hair’s time to shine – literally. Here are some hair-d0’s we rather liked at the award ceremony on Sunday, and here is how to recreate these hairstyles at home, with simple step-by-step instructions from the experts themselves:

Lea Michele has a TRESemmé hair makeover with a loose messy plait with sleek roots.

Lea Michele had her hair done by TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist John D. Here are his tips on how he prepped this look:

  1. Prep towel dried hair by raking a dollop of TRESemmé Climate Control Mousse from roots to ends to provide grip and texture for creating the braid.
  2. Blow dry hair in sections, using a large round brush to add body throughout.
  3. Once dry, create a center part and brush all hair toward the nape of the neck and secure into a low ponytail.
  4. Divide ponytail into three even sections and braid into a traditional three-plait braid, securing the end with a small elastic.
  5. Apply a small amount of TRESemmé Climate Control Mousse to fingertips and smooth any flyaways by directing hair down from the part and behind the ears.
  6. Spray TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Frizz-Free Hold Hairspray all over to set the style while providing extra hold and shine.

Kate Bosworth
Kate Bosworth had a super-clean, sleek and cute bun with the help from Maroccanoil.

How celebrity hairstylist Bridget Brager gave Kate Bosworth her modern glam up-do with Maroccanoil:

  1. On damp hair, I used a dime-sized amount of Moroccanoil Treatment Light for smoothness and shine.
  2. To create lots of volume, hold and lift, I applied Moroccanoil Root Boost to Kate’s roots and layered by raking it from root to tip with my fingers.
  3. Next I blow dried the hair in large sections creating volume.
  4. For the style, I began by creating a natural offset part using my finger to add a slight wave, and then brushed the hair into a sleek ponytail at the back, mid-center of her head.
  5. Using Moroccanoil Treatment Light, I smoothed the lengths of the ponytail, twisted it into a tight chignon and secured with hairpins.
  6. Last, I misted hair with Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray to set the look and add red carpet-worthy shine.
