Heidi Klum is almost as famous for her annual Halloween parties that have become a fixture of the New York party scene, as she is for her super-modeling career. A true costume enthusiast, when her plans for this year’s party were thwarted by Hurricane Sandy’s bombardment of America’s East Coast, she refused to let her Cleopatra-inspired costume go to waste.
Instead, she rescheduled the party for 1 December with a charitable twist. Held at Finale nightclub in NYC, the party was more than just revelry, benefitting the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts of The American Red Cross. But it was far from a somber event, including Father Christmas Claus, hip hop mogul Russell Simmons and America’s Next Top Model presenter Jay Manuel on the guest list.
The set back also allowed Klum ample time to perfect her look for the night. Hiring the services of Bill Corso, Oscar and Emmy award winning make-up artist who has created looks for The Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men and Savages, Heidi Klum’s face was transformed with hundreds of carefully placed crystals, highlighting her cheeks, lips and the bridge of her nose – transforming her into an almost unrecognizable piece of art.
As for her extravagant costume, the supermodel called upon New York-based costumier Martin Izquierdo for her dazzling Cleopatra outfit, which featured a metallic, winged cape, a gown entirely comprised of gold scales and an ornate gold headpiece complete with black curls. The party was certainly worth the wait for such a marvelous outfit!
