I’m just packing for a two day trip to New York – obviously, I want to go with hand luggage but I don’t want my hand luggage to be heavy with the usual amount of make-up I drag around the world. That’s when I re-discovered a magic little thing from Hourglass – a foundation in a stick. It’s so small and so easy but that’s not its only visionary properties. It has the coverage of a concealer but it’s also weightless. It goes on very easily and smoothes into the skin. It’s not too matte and it’s certainly not greasy. It’s a smooth operator, maximum coverage with minimum effort.
I like them so much I have two of them. One in Alabaster and one a shade lighter in Blanc so I’m even managing my version of the contoured face. Watch out for the contoured face, first premiered in the BBC film about the 16-year-old transvestite that became a hit West End show – Everyone’s Talking About Jamie. Don’t knock the drag queen make up. Much more subtle and clever than you’d have thought and contouring with these two sticks and blending is actually easier than applying bronzer from a different make-up range that sometimes doesn’t blend in right and looks cartoony.
So now maybe I have defeated my own object of minimalism but two sticks of this magic hourglass formula are as weightless to carry around as they are when they perform on the skin.
