I suffer from jet lag very badly. The more I travel the worse it has been getting. I do LA-London and London-LA on a regular basis. It was beginning to feel as though I was continually in a state of jet lag. I can’t sleep at night. I’m tired in the day. It’s been a long time since I felt rested or awake. I’ve tried the various supposed cures. Melatonin gives me nightmares and brown paper in my shoes was just brown paper in my shoes.
I saw a picture of Rihanna hooked up to a drip being treated for burnout. Burnout is not just for pop stars. Burnout is for people who work too hard and who are overwhelmed and running on empty.

By chance I was told about The Energy Clinic where I was treated for being completely spent. I was hooked up to a drip containing B vitamins and a cocktail of other miracles. Slept after the first treatment. After the second felt more awake than I had done in years also a Jet lag IV treatment specifically designed for frequent travelers, which intrigued me.
I didn’t want the good work to be undone by a trip to LA so I had a specific jet lag potion before my flight. Normally jet lag going west I wake very early in the morning and fall asleep at seven or eight o’clock. For the first time in ten years I slept through till 7.30am and was immediately on West Coast time.
Jet lag going east is a beast. Traditionally it’s worse. But I was hooked up to my drip and its effects were drastically minimised. When you’ve spent so long not feeling normal you forget what normal is. I am euphoric just not to be exhausted.
To be treated you have a consultation with the doctor and she does various tests so she can work out ‘How to stimulate your immune system and any system in your body to treat itself, to heal itself.’
Dr Margareta Griesz-Brisson says, ‘First I hear your medical history and I do a medical and neurological examination. We look at breathing, heart rate, blood pressure, digestion.’
Dr Griesz-Brisson is impressive with her detailed knowledge and most impressive of all when she realises that certain aspects of your lifestyle are stressing your health she wants to work with you. She doesn’t tell you to change your lifestyle. She may suggest it but giving you free will makes you want to work with it rather than rebel. She makes everything seem possible, not impossible.
She provides a conventional approach with a twist having trained in Europe and the US studying pharmacology, neurology and complementary medicine. Everything is extremely thorough.
Another diagnostic option used at the clinic is kinesiology. I was vaguely familiar with this method as various practitioners had recommended it. Kinesiology is not a scientific approach to medicine but it’s based on the concept that whatever is in agreement with your system makes you stronger and what is in disagreement makes you weaker. Initially you say your own name and you are strong. You state the wrong name and you get weaker.
On this same basis lie detector sensors work. We work out which remedy is best at this precise moment to improve your problem.
I was given the B vitamins at first because they are very nurturing and hypericum, which is also known as St. John’s Wort. For my jet lag infusion Vitamin C was added because of its strong antioxidant properties.
I have taken Vitamin C in large doses before but I have never been able to digest them properly. Having them put directly into the blood stream as an infusion is an express route.
Says Dr Griesz-Brisson, ‘Most of our guts and our intestinal systems do not function as well as we would like. It is much better for the breakdown of vitamins and their absorption that they are brought directly into a cellular level.’
The vitamin boost also made me robust. I usually catch a cough, a sore throat, a cold from a flight but the infusion had given me an armour against that. It also had an unexpected plus point.
Because I was not constantly run down and tired I was not constantly hungry, specifically carb hungry. My body was functioning better without the energy leaks that I was trying to feed with carbs that created more of an energy demand to digest them.
The energy clinic also does a subcutaneous injection to speed metabolism. But that’s another story. Right now I’m just happy to be awake properly for the first time in years.
