Develop A Morning Routine
A morning routine can change your entire day, and when adopted properly it will be no different than taking your morning cup of coffee. With a few stretching exercises such as feet rolling, forward hangs, seated twists, chest and back openers you will fill stretched out and more mobile throughout the day. You’d be surprised how huge an impact a few simple stretches can have on your mood and mobility.
Replace Your Commute with Exercise
Now that nearly everyone is forced to work from home, at least we no longer have to endure long and often tedious commutes to the office. Why not use that time to do something your body will thank you for? You could take a walk around the block, enjoy some light exercise or at least stretch before you get cracking at your computer for the next eight or so hours. At least go outside for a few breaths of fresh air. You won’t believe how refreshed you’ll feel.
Take Your Phone Calls On Your Feet
There are a lot of opportunities you can use to move a little. For example, taking your phone calls while standing up is a great way to take a break from sitting. Studies have shown that you’ll be more communicative standing up due to the increased blood flow to the brain which helps you be more articulate.
Stretch At The Desk
If you are used to sitting for a prolonged period of time at work, make sure to stretch out from time to time. This can help you relieve neck tension, and eliminate back pain, the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome and more. Simply roll your neck, shoulders and wrists for a couple of times and you’ll feel the accumulated tension ease up.
Dance To Some Music
If you are a musical type, you can play some upbeat tunes in the background and you’ll be sure to move even if you don’t notice it. Build a playlist for your 9 to 5 filled with upbeat, energetic songs that will make sure you shake your body from time to time, giving it some much needed tension relief.
Making sure you move every day can affect your cognitive skills, energy and productivity. When you look back at your day and see more than just crunching at your desk, you’ll feel better knowing you are doing something for your body as well. This is the best motivation you can have to do the same the next day and adopt this routine that will change your life.
