We love it when we get the latest trend reports straight from the backstage hair and makeup teams during fashion shows. The Stella McCartney Pre-Fall ’16 show took place in Sunset Boulevard in LA and to keep you bang on trend and up to date we have the latest how-to on creating their bouncy, flirty curls that were featured in the show… The Rocker Curls.
Using Aveda products on the models; the curly style was created for its cool rocker-chic vibe to complement Stella’s signature style. Aveda is a brand we are very fond of and we were impressed that Creative Director Antoinette Beenders created this look in a way that left soft, touchable curls that held – with none of that hairspray stiffness or ‘crunch’. We love this look of this ‘do.
“I wanted to create a soft and fluffy curly style that was rocker-chic, but definitely not crunchy and hard,” said Beenders. “With Aveda Be Curly Style-Prep and a simple twist set technique we were able to form touchable, flirty curls that would hold up all night”.
Get the Look
Check out how to recreate the simple twist set technique below…
Step 1: Using a water bottle, spray down entire head and work water into the hair with hands to ensure all coils are damp.
Step 2: Apply Aveda Be Curly Style-Prep (£21) to the palm of hands, rub hands together and gently massage product into the hair to add moisture and curl definition.
Step 3: Twist small sections of curls around finger all over the head to set the curl.
Step 4: Once all curls are set, flip head over and blow-dry using a diffuser. Once completely dry let hair sit for approximately 10 minutes.
Step 5: Use a wide tooth comb to gently brush out curls until desired fluffiness and bounce is reached.
Step 6: Finish with a with a misting of Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancing Hair Spray (£17.50) to lock in curl with all day frizz control.
