Maintaining real grass can be a difficult task. You have to use fertilizer, prevent weeds from growing, all that maintenance and care comes at a cost. One solution to this problem is to use artificial grass. But that also still needs care and attention. You need to understand how to take care of it so that the appearance can stay green all year round and you don’t need to replace it often.
Clean from Mild Stains
Every item on the ground is definitely susceptible to stains. Some of the possible stains are your beverage such as us milk, cola, coffee, and so on. Whether you have pets or not, there are animals that can pee on your fake grass. All of that will stain, so you need to know how to clean the stain.
Cleaning is pretty easy and fuss-free. You only need to wash it using a mild detergent so it doesn’t damage the color. Do not wash using a detergent containing bleach, as this can fade the color. If mild detergent is not able to clean stubborn stains, then you can use a 3% ammonia solution diluted in water. Make sure to rinse it only with cold water. Rinsing using warm or hot water can also have a negative impact on artificial grass.
Dealing with Sticky Stuff
Other stains that you find quite annoying are chewing gum and all kinds of sticky substances. You only need to use aerosol refrigerants and dry ice to freeze the sticky stuff. Then all you have to do is spray on the sticky stuff to make it freeze. Then you just need to scrap the stains easier. This one method is powerful enough to get rid of all kinds of sticky stains.
Clean from Dust and other Debris
Other problems that can prevent your grass from glowing green are the presence of dust, fallen leaves from trees, and also other debris. You only need to clean it using a stiff broom or a stiff brush. Don’t use a steel rake on your fake lawn. A steel rake can do permanent damage to the fake grass you have. You will need to work hard during the fall if you live in a country with four seasons. If you live in a tropical country, then that will be work that needs to be done all year round.
Cleaning Bacteria
This is something you may not see easily, but it spreads fast all over your synthetic grass. This can be a serious problem and you need to clean regularly to avoid any problems. Remember, you shouldn’t clean fake grass using strong detergent. You just need to dilute the vinegar and spray it on the parts you think may have excess bacteria. If you want a more thorough clean, then you can use a hose and clean it using a mild detergent.
Avoid Some Stains
Synthetic turf owners need to understand that not all stains can be cleaned up. There are several stains that can cause the color to fade, so you need to avoid getting grease, battery acid, motor oil, lubricants etc on your grass. Also, you must avoid cigarettes as they can cause a burn mark on the artificial turf.
