We got the official tips from the biggest brands in the industry; and their how-to‘s on achieving three pretty hot hair trends that celebrities are rocking on the red carpet at the moment. And who doesn’t want to get themselves some red-carpet-worthy hair? Here’s how you do it:
The half-up do
Whether it’s done with plaits, a quiff or a cute bun, we saw a few of these pretty half up hairstyles at the Oscars. We think they’re totally lovely.
Katie Allan, Creative Manager at Charles Worthington explains how to get Brie’s beautiful half up hair:
To get the natural soft wave:
1. Use the GHD waving tong on the hair in vertical sections to create a soft bend.
2. Take two sections of hair by the ears and twist them around each other whilst twisting each section as you go.
3. Secure with kirby grips and then use a decorative clip at the back to hide any slip ups.
The textured waves
Waves are always a popular hair-do for mid to long length hair – but this time round with a casually chic and effortlessly ‘undone’ and relaxed look. The team at Nicky Clarke enlightened us on how to recreate this style at home, using some new products from the brand:
1. Rough dry your hair using desiRED Dryer, Tipping your hair upside down to create lots of volume.
2. Section your hair into layers.
3. Taking the bottom layer, comb through and wraparound the Diamond Shine Wand. Curl some hair backwards and some hair forwards to create the ‘textured’ look.
4. Take down the next layer and repeat the process until all the hair is curled.
5. Once complete, gently tease the hair with a backcomb brush to give your hair the ‘undone’ style.
6. Spritz with hairspray.
Olivia Wilde Braids
Olivia Wilde, Revlon Brand Ambassador had her hair, make-up & nail looks created using Revlon. Her hair was prepped using Revlon Professional Hair products for her show stopping red carpet look:
1. Cleansing with Revlon Professional 45 Days Brunette for beautiful depth of colour then conditioning using Revlon Professional Interactives Hydro Rescue Treatment.
2. Hair was prepped using Revlon Professional Style Masters Volume Amplifier Mousse. Then parted to the side.
3. Hair was split into two using the parting as a guide.
4. Working on the first section, hair was divided into three parts and braid, adding a small section from the hairline each time and gathering this into the main section in the right hand until you get to the top of the ear Then just braid as normal without adding from the hair line.
5. Continue to braid to the end of the hair and secure with an elastic.
6. Repeat on the other side.
7. Bring the two plaits together and twist into a bun at the nape of the neck. Pin into place by weaving French pins into the bun.
8. Tease the plaits for more volume & a wider, flatter braid shape, then spray with Revlon Professional Style Masters Modular Hairspray £10.60 for flexible hold.
